Homer fhtagn?

I am pleased and horrified to repost the following story about a new wrinkle in good old-fashioned English paganism.

This is not even remotely Caledonian, but it amused me far too much not to post. I know I should be outraged, either due to the mocking of ancient beliefs, the unending encroachment of modern media, or the total lack of perspective or humor on the part of some people.

I know I SHOULD be outraged, but I am too busy giggling like Pat Boone on crack.

Woolgathering in The Beacon Room

The following is the beginning of an account of the first meeting between the young, impressionable and relatively innocent Kirawill Collingwood and the young (or at least younger), irreconcilable, not remotely innocent Zealot Benmergui, Baron of BardHaven.

It is designed to be read in parallel with similar entries by the Baroness, which may be found HERE.

Meet Lord Steampunk

July 1, 2007

Caledon is often described as a nation of Victorian Sims. This is not wholey accurate. In truth, Caledon is an alternate history, worshiping at the noisy alter of Steampunk. Caledon has about as much to do with authentic Victoriana as the Space Shuttle Enterprise had with Star Trek. Similar…but the fictional is much more fun then the factual.

Steampunk is an ever growing interest for many, and a brass and india rubber Rosetta Stone of fascinating design choices. Wired.com has presented a profile of Steampunk guru-savant Jake von Slatt and his Steampunk Workshop, the creations of which have already been featured in many Caledonian blogs. I have taken the liberty of reposting this excellent article.

winterfell_004.jpg

The twilight Sims of Winterfell have been undergoing several exciting changes lately. The four federated Sims under the leadership of Serra Anansi bask in the shadows of an endless sunset, a haven for those of us who enjoy life to be a slightly darker hue then Caledon.

The changes include some new locations for the main Sim of Winterfell, as well as some administration changes for the entire area.

It is with great love and pride that the Barony of BardHaven announces the debut of Miss kiralette Kelley, formerly of The House of Three Graces, Mayfair.

Miss Kelley, the daughter of Crown Princess Erzsebet of Russia and well known Mexican caballero Francisco “Two Sheds” Rojas came to live as the ward of her elder sister the Baroness Kirawill and her husband, the 35th Baron of BardHaven following her parents’ deaths in a tragic Sexgen accident in which the couple accidently selected the option “Strangle Each Other in Jealous Rage” from the Cuddles menu. That option has since been disabled.

Miss Kelley will be moving her official residence to her personal estate in Kittywickshire, Kittyswitch, over the next several days. While she is now considered in her majority and no longer a Ward of the Barony, the Baron wishes to strongly remind all that she continues to enjoy his protection and love in all ways.

Life as a Game Show

May 28, 2007

reilly-twiggy.jpg

Allow me to step out of a Caledonian mindset to honor another giant of my childhood as he passes.

Charles Nelson Reilly has died today at 76. He was a tony winning actor, acclaimed director, popular speaker and a man of enormous personal courage, being one of the first openly homosexual actors on American television.

A Game Show fixture in the 70s and 80s, in later years he was best known for guest roles on such shows as The X-Files and Millennium.

“Humorless people like you scare the hell out of me. But I’ve developed a few therapies of my own. I’ve learned to appreciate the preposterousness of any profundity. And in my distress, I am able to find the smallest, most absurd details. As if God were looking down, winking at me, and letting me in on the joke.” - Reilly as Jose Chung, Millennium

He also happened to play Mr. HooDoo.

On some dark nights, he stall haunts my dreams…trying to steal my hat. I don’t know why.

Godspeed, Sir.

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything even remotely Caledonian, but I simply feel the need to tell this fact to everyone I know.

My beloved Portland Trailblazers just won the first pick of the upcoming NBA Draft. I still have fond memories of watching them win their one and only championship from the cheap seats at old Memorial Coliseum. Greg Oden or Kevin Durant, a beautiful decision to make indeed. I wonder, do either of them play whist as well as hoops?

I am pleased to report that The News From BardHaven has been promoted to #42 on the WordPress list of Growing Blogs.

Again, we are deeply grateful to all our loyal readers, friends and supporters for allowing this bit of written fancy to continue to grow and thrive.

Stepping well out of character for a moment, I wish to discuss the days that will follow the inevitable end of our current war for Neuwhatever.

It has been the consensus opinion of those involved in key aspects of the current RP as well as those who have been on the periphery of events, or been “extras” in the filmed battle scenes, that with the exception of certain logistical snafus, the entire thing has been great fun and it will be sad to see it end.

But of course, it need NOT end, but simply be changed.

The last few weeks have seen a wonderful range of new releases from the WACOM board of Silent Sparrow designer hyasynth Tiramisu.

Running the gamut from day wear to evening wear to lingerie, these new styles should please even the most jaded Caledonian fashion plate.

A rather odd and confusing situation has come to light, quite completely described by the excellent Mr. O’Toole in the following location: HERE.

It seems that the Caledonian attitude to our charitable war has throughly offended our foe to the point they feel the need to list names of those who they feel injured their feelings and pixelated persons.

Understand please that at the moment I am controlling the partially amused scorn which fills my soul but would like to expound on my thoughts in a civilized fashion.
