Now that it is Halloween, creatures of the night are on all of our minds, and justly so. However, amongst all of the candy corn and ketchup, is there a kernel of truth to these groovy ghoulies?
Of course, any number of tabloids and psychic friends will tell you that there are monsters lurking out there. [...]

I know, my dear readers, that I said there would be only one digression.
Sue me. It was a long night.
Pornography
Men are visual, the pornographers tell me.
A bead of soft blue glass rolls across my hand…like a tear, like a wish. Beautiful. Magical. Arcane.
It had been lurking in the pocket of fresh-washed trousers; I don’t [...]

Some weeks ago I was pleased to report on the announcement by Miss Serra Anansi of a forthcoming addition to the Winterfell Sims, Winterfell Absinthe. I am pleased now to state that Winterfell Absinthe is a reality, having taken form off the Northern coast of Caledon. Winterfell Absinthe is a quaint if shadowy seaside village [...]

You will forgive me just this once, dear readers, if a weary pilgrim caters to his mood and the chuckling shadows…just this once.
Digressions on Nietzsche
Sun dropping like a stone into the Med,
Nietzsche’s mad meanderings tumbledance through a restless mind…
“We look in the Abyss,” the great apostate said,
He wrote in the Teutonic, “And the Abyss looks [...]

The image of Alice, whether in Wonderland or no, is a powerful and pervasive one in our culture. Certainly the proper, purified Disney version of the spunky blond in the blue dress and white stockings is the overwhelming standard these days, followed closely by the lurid, hysterical view of Alice as a poor, shattered slave [...]

We of the modern era have a tendency to believe we have all the answers, that there are no riddles left to solve. We have mastered the air, the sea, even space. Nothing remains hidden from us.
Of course, that is a load of hooey. Deep inside we all realize we know practically nothing, as we [...]

I will freely admit that when I was first invited to join the then newly formed Dark Victorians group, headed by Miss Violet Schnabel, Dame Lapin Paris and Miss Eladrienne Laval, I did not expect it to come to much. Perhaps an event or two, with Caledonians wearing spikey shoulder pads and putting on poor [...]

Well, The BardHaven Ball is History…and what a History it was too.
The party went on for four hours, at times more then 40 people were stomping about my family burial ground, trying to wake the dead…some even succeeded.
Truly, it was the stuff of Legend.

For me most of my memories of Autumn have to do with reading, usually some sort of comfort novels or History texts. Novels for me do not get much more comfortable then the works of Agatha Christie. I realise, with a modern urban pervert’s eye, that the books are a sort of gooey, safe simulation [...]

As my son gets older, I seek more and more ways to inculcate him with my core values, to teach him to walk in my footsteps, to see the world as I do….well, not an invaluable tool for just that has been published. Yes, Baby’s First Mythos is here to teach junior how we did [...]

Sometimes, the conventional forms of relief just aren’t enough. You have tried prayer, you’ve tried garlic, you’ve been healing chanted and exercised and hopped nekkid over the fire more times then you’ve had hot lunches. An entire cheer leading team of virgin sacrifices have met the knife in the name of your protection from dark [...]

The proper presentation of History is always a ticklish business, especially when that presentation is for the masses. It appears that a theme park based on the work of Charles Dickens is encountering predictable controversies as to the depiction of Victorian England.
Certainly the period was rife with difficulties and hardships…but how exactly do you depict [...]

Some people are ahead of their time, while some people hopefully will never have time actually catch up with them.
The artwork of HR Giger encompasses some of the most disturbing and controversial images ever to be unleashed upon the mainstream world. In fact, many of us often find that Giger has been the art director [...]

The current television season in the US seems to be chock full of ghosts, vampires and all manner of children of the night. In fact, it seems that there is a fascination in most areas of the media for the darker, spookier forms of entertainment this year, which is a very interesting (if not unwelcome) [...]
